Thanksgiving Round-up for Marketers

by | Oct 9, 2019 | Monique's Pick, Underwire Newsletter

Canadians sit down this weekend to celebrate Thanksgiving, and I want to express my gratitude to the family I love, the clients I have, and the amazing people that I get to live, work, and play with on a daily basis.

One of the things I’m grateful for is perspective. There are people around me who are always willing to share and answer my questions. Today I want share 4 people that I’m celebrating.

#1 | Connecting Dots

My friend Brett Macfarlane is doing interesting research into innovation, motivation and human behaviour at INSEAD, one of the world’s leading graduate business schools. He travels around the world working out of innovation labs, consulting, and running workshops.

I highly recommend his Connecting Dots Newsletter, which is a periodic mailing on research developments and lessons learned from his various forays into the world of business innovation. There’s always a good book cited, an article I can’t wait to read, or thoughts I have to ponder for a long time.

#2 | Innovation & Entrepreneurship in Publishing

Dominique Raccah, award-winning publisher and CEO of Sourcebooks, presented the 2019 Jim Douglas Lecture on Sept 25 at Simon Fraser University. Her topic was innovation and entrepreneurship in publishing and she held the audience in rapture with her insights and inspiration. I want to share some of the key takeaways that stuck with me from her talk.
